Lemons are the most important product: their
peel is thick and tender, lemons are big and really odorous. A
very tasteful liqueur is made from the peel, called “pane”
(bread): it’s the limoncello o “sfusato amalfitano”,
one of the most drunk liqueurs in Italy.
Limoncello is produced in all the towns of Amalfitana coast and
it is exported also abroad. A wonderful paper is still made in
Amalfi with XVIII century techniques.
Amalfi is a beautiful famous tourist destination. It is an internationally
known tourist town thanks to its natural beauties and its mild
climate. Its history, its landscapes, the sea, the monuments are
a wonderful and unique cocktail. Its port is the place from where
all the excursions to Capri and Sorrento leave.
The restaurants are really exceptional with a refined and tasteful
cookery. During the summer Amalfi is the reign of entertainment
with many events, such as Lemon Festival that celebrates the most
famous fruit of its cultivations, the lemon, and the tasteful
liqueur, Limoncello.
